Our Favourite Limo Scenes from Movies

By on Aug 2, 2016 in Films, Limousine Hire |

Limousines have long been used in movies as a way to set the scene for something memorable to happen. Whether it’s a romantic moment or a bittersweet goodbye; limos seem to be irresistible to Hollywood.

There have been plenty of classic movie limousine scenes over the years – here are the ones that stick in our mind the most!

Pretty Woman

Our favourite limo related scene has to be the ending of Pretty Woman.  The scene is where Edward (Richard Gere) arrives in his luxury chauffeur driven white limousine to declare his love for Vivian (Julia Roberts). He comes blaring opera music and with a bouquet of roses!  The idea is that he is fulfilling her childhood fantasy of being “rescued” by a knight on a white horse – in this case a white limousine!

Sex and the City

The next “limousine scene” on our list is the now infamous scene from the first Sex and the City movie. It takes places in the moments after Big has left Carrie at the altar and made a getaway in the back of a black stretch limousine. He asks the driver to turn around after feeling guilty about what he has done and ends up in a huge fight in the middle of the street with Carrie who beats him with her bouquet. The driver remains so calm throughout!

Home Alone 2

Home Alone 2 is the one in which Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in NYC and turns it into his own big adventure. One of the most memorable scenes is when he manages to convince the hotel staff to take him out for a limousine ride. He ends up sat in the back of the limo eating pizza and drinking fizzy pop, and taking advantage of the in-car phone. And his first request? To make a quick stop at a toy store!

Dumb and Dumber

A limousine actually plays a really important part in the first Dumb and Dumber movie! The film follows the (mis)adventures of two friends who find themselves travelling to Aspen to return a lost suitcase full of money. Jim Carrey plays a limousine driver who stops to ask a pedestrian for directions and ends up taking her to the airport in his limo. The woman then leaves her suitcase in the back and it’s this that sets up the premise of the whole movie.

These are our four favourite scenes involving limos; which are yours?
